Proper disposal: routes, impact and your contribution

Sorting is step one — what matters is that each type of waste takes the right route. Germany offers four: recycling centers (the universal option, accepting nearly everything), public containers for glass and textiles (over 54,000 nationwide), hazardous waste collections for paints, chemicals and oils, and retail take-back for electronics and batteries. Recycling pays off measurably: recycled aluminium needs 95% less energy than new production, and German packaging recycling saves around 9 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. The golden rule of the circular economy: avoid → reuse → recycle → recover → dispose.
